Dear speaker,
i read your short story "Ambush".I felt very emotional after reading that story. It was a very good story. The story was expressing the real events which took place in soldier's life.I liked the lines when you said "I remember slapping at them, wondering if i should wake up Kiowa ans ask for some repellent, then thinking it was a bad idea, then looking up and seeing the young man come out of the fog.He wore black clothing and rubber sandals and a grey ammunition belt."
In these lines i guess you tried to convey your feelings that you had for that guy who was fighting with you in the battle field. Those were my favorite lines.
I wanted to ask you that why you realized that whatever you did was not good, why you felt like that??why you had feelings for that guy who was fighting against you in the war but not for any other guy?did you felt anything special about him?can you tell me more about your feelings towards him and tell about yourself that have you ever felt like this with any other person?I will be waiting for your reply.
Your's sincerely,
Prya Saini Kaur.

*$Olaudah Equiano$*

Comprehension Check Questions:
For what crimes were slaves punished? And what was the punishment?
The 2 countrymen who were chained together were punished because they jumped in the sea to get rid of this life of misery as they were annoyed because they did'nt got food whn they were hungry. They were caught after they jumped into the sea. They gave a unmercifully punishment for prefering death to slavery.

Critical Thinking Questions:
Interpret:
Why does Equiano blame the illness aboard the ship on the “improvident avarice” of the traders?
Equiano blames the illness aboard the ship on the "improvident avarice"of the traders because Equiano and the other slaves which were on the ship and chained together were suffering from many diseases and were not able to survive.these diseases occured because of the suffocation in the deck.traders were not concentrating in the health of the slaves which was not a good thing for slaves.slaves were becoming weak day by day because they didnt got proper food.they used to stay hungry and thirsty for many hours.traders kept them in a very bad condition.slaves were chained together in a very less space/used to sit tightly because of the tight chains, this created a lot of suffocation due to which people became ill.The whole main cause of illness was that they could not breath properly.

Support from the text:
How can you tell that Equiano has a great zest for life despite his assertion that he wanted to die?
" I was now more persuaded than ever that I was in another world, and that every thing about me was magic." this quote shows that he was satisfied with his slave life instead of being sad like other slaves.he was so confident about himself that he always smiled and used to observe the feelings of others.he never tried to escape from the ship.he always stayed in the deck so that he could not suffer from certain kind of diseases that is why he didnt ever became sick in the ship as others used to remain ill.

Infer:
What does this passage reveal about the author?
this passage reveals that the author,EQUIANO has experienced a lot of things in his life.he has experienced about the lives of the people that how they deal with their lives.he was a very confident person with lot of qualities.he never feared of slavery.he dealed with his life of slavery very smoothely.he experienced that how other people(slaves)hate their life and are feared of traders and becoming helpless.

Draw conclusion:
Explain what a variety of languages indicates about the slave trade.
slave trade gave a very sorrow and painful life to the slaves which made them helpless.
slaves passed through many different painful ways.

Thematic Focus:
When one culture dominates another, what troubles might society face?
when one culture dominates another one then corruption can take place.if one country will domminate other country then a they will fight with each other on certain kind of issues.discrimination among people will also occur.
